1/2" Hardwood build up to 3/4" step?

I am installing 1/2" hardwood flooring. At the top of the steps, the landing tread is 3/4" thick. In order to "build up" the flooring, I plan on laying 1/4" OSB up to the tread. Does anybody know what type of fasteners I should use (glue, screws, or roofing nails), or how I should install the 1/4" plywood over advantech? I do not want squeaks between the 2 OSB products.
