AVI and WMV Not working on WMM?

Alright, my current operating system for this computer is XP and currently, certain WMV files and AVI files won't work with my WMM despite having worked before. Even already downloaded video files have become faulty and won't work. If anyone knows what's wrong and how to fix it, please let me know.
